Avatar Flight of Passage

Disney's Animal Kingdom · Pandora – The World of Avatar

Overview

The seat under each rider on Avatar Flight of Passage physically breathes — subtly expanding and contracting for the whole five minutes — which is a small detail doing a lot of the work behind the ride's reputation as one of Disney's best simulators. Developed with James Cameron's team, the forward-leaning motorcycle-style seat syncs to a banshee's wingbeats and dives across a domed screen large enough that the edges disappear from peripheral vision. It opened in 2017 on the site of Camp Minnie-Mickey, a character meet-and-greet area that had run there since 1998.

ParksLog Verdict

Lightning Lane Individual this without a second thought — it's worth the extra cost, and worth riding twice if the budget allows. The forward-leaning seat position puts real pressure across the torso, so guests with back or neck issues should think it through before boarding. Skip the skepticism if you've never seen the films; the flying sensation converts people who came in indifferent.
