Overview
Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress has reportedly been seen by more people than any other stage production in history, which is a strange claim for an attraction most guests walk past without a second look. It moved twice before landing at Magic Kingdom — General Electric sponsored it at the 1964 World's Fair, Disneyland hosted it from 1967, and it's run in Tomorrowland since 1975, rotating a stationary audience past fixed decade-by-decade tableaux rather than moving anyone through a track. The final scene still ends on 1990s optimism, unchanged since.

Twenty-one minutes is a real commitment and young kids will not make it to the end gracefully — plan around nap time or skip it with a toddler in tow. Adults with any interest in Disney or American design history should make time regardless; the earnestness is basically the whole appeal, unfiltered by decades of irony. Fair warning: the theme song is genuinely inescapable once heard.

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress was originally developed by Walt Disney for the 1964 New York World's Fair, where it was sponsored by General Electric. It moved to Disneyland in 1967 and relocated to Magic Kingdom in 1975, where it has operated largely unchanged since.
