Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Magic Kingdom · Tomorrowland

Overview

Adults tend to write off Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin as a kids' ride with lasers, which undersells the actual mechanic: a joystick spins your vehicle on its own axis, and the highest-value targets often sit off to the side or behind you, not straight ahead. Score chasers who bother rotating the car during the Zurg-battle scenes can meaningfully outscore guests who just point and shoot down the middle. It replaced the old Take Flight dark ride in 1998 and was one of Disney's first attractions to track real-time competition between riders in the same vehicle.

ParksLog Verdict

Worth a second lap purely to test the rotating-joystick strategy against just aiming straight ahead — the score difference is real, not a rumor. Best for kids and for adults willing to actually compete. If you're short on time, this is one of the easier optional attractions to cut without regret.
