ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter placed guests in a circular theater built to resemble a rogue interplanetary company's teleportation demonstration gone wrong, using total darkness, seat-back sensations, misting effects, and sound design to simulate a dangerous alien creature loose in the room. It was one of the most intense, frightening attractions Disney ever built for a family theme park.

History
ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter opened in 1995 and closed in 2003. Its show building and much of its effects system were reused for Stitch's Great Escape, a family-friendly reworking of the same concept, which opened in 2004 and itself closed in 2018.
