Fantasmic!
Disney's Hollywood Studios · Sunset Boulevard
Overview
Fantasmic! is Hollywood Studios' flagship nighttime spectacular, staged in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater on Sunset Boulevard. The 30-minute show follows Mickey Mouse as he battles Disney villains — including Maleficent, the Evil Queen, and Ursula — across water screens, pyrotechnics, live performers, floats, and projected scenes from classic Disney films. The amphitheater holds over 9,000 guests, making it one of the largest outdoor entertainment venues at any Disney park. Two performances are typically scheduled on busy evenings, and the production scale makes it one of Hollywood Studios' defining experiences.
ParksLog Verdict
Not optional — Fantasmic! is Hollywood Studios' defining nighttime event and one of the most spectacular shows at any Disney park. The 9,000-seat amphitheater fills fast; arrive at least 45 minutes early or book the Dining Package for reserved seating. The water screen projections and live pyrotechnics are genuinely impressive at scale. If two shows are running, the second typically has more available seats. Every Hollywood Studios visitor should see it.

History
Fantasmic! debuted at Hollywood Studios on October 3, 1998, following the success of the original Disneyland version that opened in 1992. The Hollywood Studios production is significantly larger than the Disneyland original, purpose-built for a much bigger amphitheater with an expanded cast, larger water features, and additional pyrotechnics. The show underwent a significant refurbishment and returned in 2022 with updated projections, new scenes, and added characters.
