Journey Into YOUR Imagination
EPCOT · Future World
Overview
Journey Into YOUR Imagination was a 1999 overhaul of the Imagination Pavilion ride that swapped Dreamfinder and a mostly-present Figment for a clinical tour of the fictional Imagination Institute, hosted by the skeptical Dr. Nigel Channing. Figment was reduced to a brief, easily-missed cameo near the end, a choice widely seen as misreading what guests actually loved about the original ride.
ParksLog Verdict
This version exists mainly as a cautionary tale — proof that removing a fan-favorite character, even a supporting one, can sink an otherwise competently built ride. Its short lifespan and quick reversal make it one of the more interesting footnotes in Epcot's history, even though almost nobody misses the ride itself.

History
It opened in 1999 replacing the beloved original Journey Into Imagination and closed just two years later, in 2001, after intense and sustained guest complaints about Figment's near-total absence. Disney reworked the ride again, restoring Figment as co-star, in the version that opened in 2002 and still runs today.
Fun Facts

- Figment appeared in only one brief scene, a decision Disney reversed within three years
- The guest backlash to this version is often cited alongside other examples of Disney fans successfully pressuring a redesign
