No coaster before this had combined forward and backward launches, a vertical drop track segment, and interior dark ride sections with life-size animatronics all in one attraction — Hagrid's did it first when it opened in June 2019, replacing Dragon Challenge, which had run on the same site since 1999 as Dueling Dragons before its 2010 Wizarding World retheme. Fluffy the three-headed dog, Cornish Pixies, a Blast-Ended Skrewt, and Devil's Snare all make appearances across the ride's forest sections, and the choice between motorcycle and sidecar seating produces meaningfully different physical experiences.

History
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened June 13, 2019, replacing Dragon Challenge — the dueling coaster that had occupied the same location since 1999 (first as Dueling Dragons, then rethemed to Dragon Challenge in 2010 with the Wizarding World opening). The replacement was one of the most anticipated coaster openings in Universal Parks history, combining ride systems and practical animatronic density unprecedented in theme park coaster design.
