Overview
How intense Mad Tea Party gets is entirely up to whoever's cranking the center wheel in your cup — hold it still and the ride barely registers; spin hard and the combined rotation (the cup spinning on its own axis while the whole platform turns) gets disorienting fast. That guest-controlled physics has been the entire ride since 1971, unchanged, which is honestly more interesting than most other teacup rides worldwide precisely because so little has been added to it. String lights over the outdoor platform make evening rides noticeably more pleasant than the midday version.

Skip this outright if you're prone to motion sickness — there's no gentle version that avoids the fundamental problem, no matter how still you try to hold the wheel with an overeager kid in the cup with you. Everyone else: crank it hard once, and ride it again after dark under the lights if the mood strikes.

History
Essentially unchanged since its October 1971 Magic Kingdom debut, Mad Tea Party is actually the younger of Disney's two flagship teacup rides — Disneyland's version opened first, back in 1955.
