At the ride's conclusion, guests exited directly into a climate-controlled habitat housing hundreds of real gentoo, king, Adelie, and rockhopper penguins, viewable at close range through glass. Two ride intensities were offered from the same queue — a mild version for families and a livelier one with sharper turns.

Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin opened in 2013. It closed in 2020, and its building became Penguin Trek, a family launch coaster that opened in 2024 and kept the penguin habitat.
